Looking for Computer Jobs?

There are good and bad computer jobs -

Is your IT career where you want it to be?

Quick Jump to:

Thank you for visiting First-Computer-Job.com. Here you can find a great deal of information and resources to aid you in your quest for a well paid and fulfilling computing career.

Whether you’re tentatively considering getting into the industry, looking for entry level computer jobs, developing your skills to increase your market worth, a seasoned pro looking for your next gig (check out the IT job seeker guide) or even looking to start up your own IT business - or even a homebased online business you’re in the right place!

Who am I?

Peter Webber

CCNA MCP

My name is Peter Webber and I’ve been in the IT game for 8 years now. I’m not a recruitment professional or a career counsellor sat behind a desk away from all the action- I’m a very active, high flying independent IT contractor.

I look for new work about every 3-6 months in a highly competitive market. Getting computer jobs is something I do a lot – not just any computer jobs either! I know what it takes to become a preferred candidate and my contract rate reflects that.

I’m here to tell you how it is from the inside of the very top end of the market where businesses pay big money for the cream of the crop.

Is it a Lawyer? Is it a Doctor? – No it’s ..............an IT Consultant!

The best thing about the IT industry is that you can jump into it with very little background training compared to other highly paid professions that require years of college study and a degree.

Technical knowledge aside though, what really cuts the mustard in this game is knowledge of how to apply technology to business effectively. It’s great knowing the ins and outs of ‘how stuff works’ but what employers need is technical staff with business awareness training.

Even at entry level stage where you’re paying your dues – develop core business skills alongside your technical skills and before long you can pretty much write your own check. Many tech people get this part wrong and don’t go as far as they should – they think in terms of:

“I can look after x and y systems and I know a and b”………

………….when they should really be selling themselves on statements like:

“My understanding of x technology in a y business environment enables me to increase your company’s revenue by z% in 3 months!”

That my friend is the difference between a 5 figure and a 6 figure income!

Whatever your level or stage of your career, have a look around at some of the many resources this site has to offer – including free downloads and a monthly newsletter keeping you up to date with this fast moving and exciting industry.

I'd like to wish you the very best of luck with your search for computer jobs.
